Yet another corporate integration in 2023
TERRAWATER becomes a Competence Brand of TAPROGGE GmbH.
Just a month ago we announced the integration of KLAREN Technology into TAPROGGE GmbH. Today, we take pleasure to announce another technology integration: TERRAWATER will competence and technology brand of TAPROGGE GmbH: “TERRAWATER Technology“.
TERRAWATER GmbH has been part of the TAPROGGE Group for a number of years and fits into the CleanTech portfolio of TAPROGGE in an ideal way. The proprietary technology of TERRAWATER is the intelligent method to use waste heat for energy-efficient desalination or for the concentration of waters, brines and waste waters to the point of salt crystallization – technologies which become more and more relevant for the energy-efficient and clean use of resources.
Up to now, TERRAWATER´s primary business focus has been on concentrating liquid digestate from biogas plants and extracting ammonium sulfate salt from this fluid for reuse as fertilizer – a technology that helps avoid contamination of groundwater (nitrate contamination) and aims at closing nutrient cycles to support circular economy. “All that we generate from the waste heat of the gas motors in biogas plants”, says Nicolas Heyn, Head of the TAPROGGE Office Kiel, which TAPROGGE has formed as an operational base of TERRAWATER Technology.
“The benefit of integrating TERRAWATER Technology into TAPROGGE is enormous. Not only do we already use TAPROGGE Tube Cleaning Technology in a number of our products, but in the future we can also benefit greatly from TAPROGGE´s national and international manufacturing capabilities and TAPROGGE´s reputation and market access to clients who we wish to target next.”
“That is absolutely correct”, confirms D. Taprogge, Managing Director of TAPROGGE GmbH, “the integrational step is of strategic relevance. So far, we have only scratched the surface of what TERRAWATER Technology could become for us in the future.”
There are several potential applications in the pipeline, which make sense for TAPROGGE. For instance, TAPROGGE is of fundamental relevance in thermal seawater desalination, a know-how which will be very useful in the upcoming desalination task for off-grid desalination (e.g. on islands) or for offshore “green” hydrogen, where TERRAWATER Technology has the truly unique benefit of being able to desalinate water without contamination of the sea from addition of chemicals to brine.
“We will now be working together on these applications as a joint team with simultaneous allocation of tasks in the TAPROGGE Office Kiel and at TAPROGGE Headquarters in Wetter. Our goal is to speed up our ambitious time-to-market targets to serve our clients with energy-efficient and clean solutions“, D. Taprogge adds.
